Forgive me for not keeping my website up to
date. I had cancer surgery in January and my dad passed away on the same day of my surgery. Things are beginning to have a
new normal to it.
Thank you
for taking notice in my artwork and engaging an interest in the artist. My name is Ken Johnson, (Tuboe for short). I'm
a native of Boise, Idaho, although I grew up as a Navy brat in California. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis
in Visual Arts from Boise State University. My interest in photography started in my youth while armed with a Kodak Instamatic
Camera. I learned the technical skills while in the Marine Corps as a Combat Still Photographer. I enjoy most disciplines
of photography, although I loathe wedding photography. Landscapes, still life, and manipulated imaging are my most favorite
forms of expression. I love black and white photography for its capacity to show texture more vividly than color, as well
I believe it adds a touch of drama to the image.
Painting and drawing are also a favorite pastime as well. From
the first crayon I chewed upon, as a little tyke to the present, drawing and painting have been part of my life. I love bright
colors and try to express this fascination with them in my work.
I also have a deep faith in the Lord Jesus Christ,
who is my true strength and guide in life. A personal relationship that sustains me each and every day, otherwise I would
be a basket case. Hebrews 13:8 tells me that Jesus is the same today as he was 2000 years ago, and that His pure word is also
the same “heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away, Matthew 24:35.
On this website, I will describe common threads among my photographs or talk
about the themes I try to explore with the camera. I'll also include four or five representative photographs on the respective
page for each field of interest. Please enjoy yourself and add your comments in the blog.
